Chattanooga is home to both Ironman and Half-Ironman events, bringing in pro triatheletes who compete in both events each year. The Chattanooga Lookouts, the AA farm team of the Minnesota Twins, play in AT&T Field located high atop Chattanooga. The Scenic City is also home to the brand new Chattanooga Red Wolves Stadium and the Chattanooga Football Club (CFC), an amateur soccer team, a member of the NPSL, and regular contender for that league’s championship.

Chattanooga is also home to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Mocs. The alma mater of NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, the Mocs play FCS level football in beautiful Finley Stadium. As a member of the Southern Conference, their football team and men’s and women’s basketball teams, regularly compete at the highest levels. The Mocs basketball team made the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament in the mid-90s and is a frequent participant in the Big Dance. The women’s team has hosted opening rounds of the tournament and beaten Rutgers and played the Lady Vols in their home court of McKenzie Arena.

In addition to the teams located in town, Chattanooga has hosted several major visiting teams and events. Each year the city hosts the Head of the Hooch regatta, one of the largest crew events in the country. Finley Stadium has played host for the both the men’s and women’s US National Soccer team in exhibition matches.

Chattanooga is also within easy driving distance of Nashville, Atlanta, Tuscaloosa, Athens, and Knoxville. You can make day trips to see your favorite college or professional teams and make it back to your own home after it is all said and done.

For families looking to participate in activities hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, cycling, and more are all options in the Chattanooga area. There is whitewater rafting on the nearby Ocoee and hang gliding on Lookout Mountain. Whatever you’re looking for, you and your family can find in Chattanooga.
